The Estonian Society of Neuromuscular Disorders (ELS)
is an association whose goal is to improve the quality of life for people with muscular diseases. There are many ways to achieve this goal: we support our
members with experience and advice, share information about both the disease and
coping strategies, organize events that broaden horizons, and offer
the opportunity to get involved in the association’s day-to-day work. A good sense of humor is an integral part of our
joint endeavors, and every member of our “family” is accepted
just as they are.
Hey young or young at heart!
You'll find people your own age and with similar interests. We have plenty of enthusiasts with whom you can hatch all sorts of plans or discuss world affairs. Warning! You will be dragged out of your home!
As someone who prefers their own company, you might find someone who listens, thinks along with you, and, most importantly, doesn’t get on your nerves.
Important message for seniors
Members of the association share their experiences and coping strategies with
both other members and officials from various fields. When it comes to rare diseases,
your experience in how you have coped in crisis situations
is very valuable to us. Don't keep your life experience to yourself, come and share it!
For parents and supporters
Please feel free to contact the association’s board with your question; if we do not have
an immediate solution to the problem you have raised, we will seek the means and ways
to find a solution. We stand up for the rights of our members and for ensuring a full life for all
people with muscular diseases. The problems solved today
will be gone tomorrow. Come and let's make the world a better place!
Membership fee
As of 01.01.2018, the membership fee for individual members is 5 euros and family EUR 8.

For us, there is no such thing as being physically unfit; there is only an inadequate lifestyle. To improve the lives of people with disabilities, we collaborate with three umbrella organizations: the Estonian Chamber of Disabled People (EPIK), the Union of Non-Governmental Organizations (VÜL), and the Estonian Association of People with Mobility Impairments (ELIL). We are open to challenges from various interest groups. We plan and implement projects aimed at shaping societal attitudes, as well as boosting individuals’ self-confidence and awareness. Through our efforts, several progressive ideas have reached and taken root in Estonia, such as the independent living movement or electric wheelchair floorball.
